How do I find the comic I am looking for?
New additions to our comic book stock can be viewed on our ‘New Arrivals‘ page.
There are a couple of ways for you to navigate the rest of the store.
You can use the menus in the navigation bar to select a page, for example:
Shop > Comic Books > DC Comics
You can then select the comic book title or character you are looking for.
Alternatively you can use the search bar to type in keywords, the more specific you are the better.
For example if you search ‘X-Men #120‘ you will receive links to any issue with the terms ‘X-men 120’ in it’s title or description, if you search ‘John Byrne‘ you will receive links to all issues that John Byrne is listed in and will eventually find X-Men #120.
To view the comic details click on the thumbnail image or title to be taken to the comics description page.
How do I select the comic I want?
Once you click the thumbnail or title you will be taken to the comics description page.
If there are no variant covers, print options (1st Print, 2nd Print etc) or different grades available, you will see the comics cover, description and the ‘Add to cart’ button.
If there is only one option available, such as ‘Variant Cover’, simply click the option you’d like to view.
The selected comics cover, description, price and the ‘Add to cart’ button will then be displayed.
If there are two or more options available such as ‘Variant Cover’ and ‘Variant’ for example, you can clear the default selections by clicking on the dark gray ‘selected’ buttons. These will then turn light gray, allowing you to select other available options.
The comics cover and price will automatically update once you have made your selections, and the ‘Add to cart’ button will be displayed.
If there are no options to choose from but the comic can be added to your cart, then it is in near mint or better condition with no variants or alternative print options available.
Once you are happy with your selection click the ‘Add to cart’ button.
Which forms of payment do you accept?
We accept payments via Bank Transfer, Credit Card / Debit Card and Paypal.
You can make a secure payment via a bank transfer using the Online Banking payment option at checkout.
When using the Online Banking option, your ordered items will be removed from stock and you will be provided with Comic Book Shop’s bank account details after completing checkout.
You can then make payment via your banks online banking option.
This payment method allows you to complete your purchase before payment is required, enabling us to provide you with order specific shipping and payment amounts.
For example if your order includes back issue comics and comic book subscriptions we will email you two separate totals.
One for back issues that will be shipped to you as soon as payment is received and a second for subscriptions which will include an ongoing monthly payment amount and date.
Payment security for the Online Banking option is managed by your bank.
There are no transaction fees applied to Online Banking orders.
Credit Card / Debit Card payments are processed by Stripe, providing you with a complete PCI DSS Level 1 certification (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant secure payment option.
You can make a secure online payment with VISA or Matercard using the Credit Card payment option at checkout.
When using the Credit Card / Debit Card payment option at checkout simply type in your card number, expiration date and 3 digit card security code then click ‘Place Order’.
Your card security code (CAV2, CID, CVC2, CVV2) can be found on the back of your credit card.
Your Credit Card / Debit Card payment will then be securely processed by Stripe.
If you have a store account your Credit Card / Debit Card details can also be securely saved* for a faster and smoother checkout experience on future purchases.
*Credit Card / Debit Card details are fully encrypted and stored on Stripe’s secure servers, Stripe’s infrastructure for storing, decrypting, and transmitting card numbers runs in separate hosting infrastructure, and doesn’t share any credentials with Stripe’s primary services. Your card security code (CAV2, CID, CVC2, CVV2) will not be stored as storage of this data is prohibited by the PCI DSS.
You can manage your saved Credit Card / Debit Card details from the ‘My Account’ page.
A transaction fee of 2.9% + $0.30 will be applied to your order at checkout.

You can make a secure online payment with your Paypal account using the Paypal payment option at checkout.
Once you have placed your order you will be redirected to Paypal’s secure online payment page where you may choose to:
a) Make payment via PayPal – You can make payment for your order using your Paypal account.
b) Make payment using your Credit Card via Paypal – You do not need a Paypal account to make Visa or MasterCard payments via Paypal.
A transaction fee of 3.4% + $0.45 will be applied to your order at checkout.

You can make a secure online payment with your Zip account using the Zip – Own it now, pay in 4 payment option at checkout.
Zip allows you to make purchases and get your goods shipped straight away but only pay 25% upfront, with the rest charged over three fortnightly interest-free payments.
Once you click the ‘Place order’ button to complete your order at checkout, you’ll be redirected to the Zip website and given the option to register or sign in to your existing Zip account.
You will then review and confirm your purchase before making your first payment.
Once your first payment is accepted we will send your purchased items.
A transaction fee of 4.5% will be applied to your order at checkout.
Zip is only available to customers in New Zealand.
Zip can not be used for subscription orders.

You can make a secure online payment with your crypto wallet using the Cryptocurrency payment option at checkout.
Once you have selected your preferred cryptocurrency and clicked the ‘Place order’ button at checkout, you’ll be redirected to our ‘order received’ page.
The order received page will include your order payment instructions as shown below:
Once your payment is received we will send your purchased items.
There are no transaction fees applied to Cryptocurrency orders.

Are your prices in NZ Dollars and will I pay any additional fees when purchasing internationally?
All prices are listed in NZ dollars and include Goods and Services Tax (GST).
International purchases are exempt from GST, as such if you are ordering from the Australia or the US, prices will be displayed in NZ dollars excluding GST.
Import duties and taxes are not included in the item prices or shipping costs.
If you are ordering from the United States there are no duties or taxes to pay on comic books in most states.
However we recommend you confirm this applies to your shipping destination with U.S. Customs and Border Protection before completing your purchase.
How secure are my payment details and shipping information?
PayPal payments are performed off site with Paypal, the industry leader in online payment processing, where your information is encrypted and protected by SSL with an encryption key length of 168 bits (the highest level commercially available).
Credit Card / Debit Card payments are processed by Stripe, a complete PCI DSS Level 1 certification (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) compliant secure payment option. All card numbers are encrypted on disk with AES-256. Decryption keys are stored on separate machines.
In addition, all communication between Comic Book Shop and Stripe is conducted in a secure fashion using SSL.
Stripe is certified to the highest industry standards and has obtained regulatory licenses around the world.
Direct banking requires you to make payment from your bank, as such payment security is managed by your bank.
In addition our web site is verified and secured with a Let’s Encrypt SSL Certificate.
All information you provide us is protected with up to 256-bit Secure Sockets Layer encryption.

When will my order ship?
Orders usually ship within 24-48 hours of payment being received (excluding weekends and holidays).
Please note that problems relating to credit card status or billing information provided by the customer can delay shipping.
What are your shipping rates and methods?
Our shipping rates are calculated by size and weight providing you with order specific shipping options during checkout.
The following examples are based on orders shipping within New Zealand for standard sized comic books only; double-sized comics, graphic novels and comic book supplies may alter shipping costs due to size and weight.
- 1-2 Comics – NZ Post Courier $5.20
- 3-8 Comics – NZ Post Courier $7.20
- 9-12 Comics – NZ Post Courier $9.70
An additional fee of $3.90 applies for rural delivery.

If you are shipping your order within New Zealand and your shopping cart total excluding shipping is NZ$250 or more your order will be shipped for free via NZ Post Courier.*
This offer is currently only available for New Zealand customers.

Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we are happy to ship internationally.
Orders shipping to Australia or the US will have appropriate shipping fees applied at checkout once you have entered your shipping details.
If you are ordering from outside of New Zealand, Australia or the US please contact us before making your purchase so we can provide you with shipping options.
How will my order be packaged?
Every comic you order from us comes in a fresh comic book bag and board.
All comic book orders are bagged and boarded and wrapped together in a secondary poly bag to protect against the elements during shipping.
Your order is then packed in a tough cardboard book mailer, providing extra protection for those delicate corners.
Comic Book Grading
How do you grade your comics?
At comicbookshop.co.nz we use the following Grading Guidelines when grading our comics.
New releases are brand new, near mint condition unless otherwise graded in the comic description.
All our listed comics are provided with scans of the actual comics you are purchasing, if you would like additional images or descriptions of a particular comic please contact us before purchasing.
Information that you supply to us.
We securely store all of the information that you enter on comicbookshop.co.nz for the purposes of shipping and responding to all of your requests.
Comicbookshop.co.nz does not share your information with any third parties.
If you feel you must return a purchased item, please contact us by e-mail within 7 days of receipt of your shipment.
A refund will be issued after we have inspected the returned item, providing that it is returned in the same condition as it was when originally shipped to you.
Use the same box and packing material that we used in shipping.
Return shipping costs are the obligation of the buyer.
Returned merchandise must be received by us within seven days of the date from which you contacted us about the return.
